History The Old Firm

The Old Firm is a 3 piece band from The Netherlands.

The members are:

Hans: Vocals, accordion and acoustic guitar.

Peter: Vocals, drums, box & cloggs.

Maarten: Vocals, acoustic guitar and violin.

What type of music do they play?:

The Old Firm themselves describe their music as Celtic-Folk-Rock. They only use acoustic instruments. Together with their close harmony vocals, they’ve got a unique sound. The music is comparable with the Pogues, Waterboys,

Floggin’Molly and The Levellers.

The songs they play are traditionals from Ireland and Scotland and covers from their favourite bands, but this band also has got the quality of writing brilliant songs that even after a week stay in your head. These songs you

can hear on their brandnew CD: Better Lost Than Nowhere.

Where do they play?:

This band has been going for about ten years. Starting in beachbars, they moved direction bigger cities in Holland. They are mostly playing in Holland, but they had tours going to Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium and Portugal!! Still, sometimes you can find them basking in their hometown....

Their performance is a thing not really to read about, but to experience yourself. Once you let yourself go, you feel the passion and energy of these three musicians and you can’t stand still: Dancing is a must!

So ladies and gentlemen, get down the front, turn the lights low, brace yourselves....

The Old Firm!
