History Big Bag of Sticks
Big Bag of sticks began around 90/91 under many different titles eventually settling on this name. They started life as a six piece eventually becoming seven then back to six. The bands members are:
David Andrews;- mandolin ,electric guitar, whistle and vocals
Colin Stanley:- acoustic and electric guitar also vocals
Caroline Kelly (Stanley) vocals
Tony. O Rielly:-fiddle and vocals
Gus Dewar : originally bazooki but now bass player
Peat Bog :djiredoo and vocals but only stayed with the band for short time.
Their music has been described as eclectic mainly because they never fitted into record industry titles not mainstream in the slightest. They could go from soft , melodic to rock, reggae,Irish trad style to dance etc depending on what they were influenced by at the time of writing.
There was never a crowd who could sit still when they performed.
They recorded lots and lots releasing in the days of tapes
Explosions in Thomas 's toilet(6 track e.p)
Thorny Bush
Six Guinness and a Cider
Run Wild(6 track e.p)
Then on c.d

They toured Ireland relentlessly ignored by the media mainly because of the anti dreadlock nation we had become not that they all had them !
Crowds followed wherever they played.
After a painful few years they sets there sites on Europe:- playing all across Germany and in Switzerland, one of their gigs being The Montreaux Jazz Festival playing with The Pogues and Aslan also played Holland and England. They split up amicably around 98 but occassionally perform in Ireland and Germany if they cause is just and fun!
