History
Pride and Joy were actually the same group as The Del-Vetts, the Chicago band famed for one of the greatest mid-'60s garage rock singles, "Last Time Around." After releasing three singles as the Del-Vetts, they changed their name to Pride and Joy for the 1967 single "If You're Ready," which actually wasn't far below "Last Time Around" for fine garage rock raunch matching tough guitars with solid pop hooks. One more single followed later that year, an uncharacteristic pop/rocker penned by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, "We've Got a Long Way to Go" (backed by a song that had been previously released by the Del-Vetts, "That's the Way It Is"). All of the songs from the Pride and Joy singles are on the 10" LP The Del-Vetts, issued by Sundazed in 2008, which also includes all of the songs they issued as the Del-Vetts.
