The Caos Totale recordings reveal a mature and self-assured Berne with an instantly identifiable saxophone style and a compositional approach moving toward extended-form pieces of extraordinary scope.

Downtown New York avant garde jazz . There are moments of pure noise--sometimes invograting, sometimes aggravating, occasionally a little of both--alongside those that seem tightly composed. Mediating these extremes are some interesting improvisational discussions between the various players.
