Biography Christoph Erb

Christoph Erb / Swiss jazz musician,born 1973 in Zürich / tenor saxophone & bass clarinet,resides in Luzern.

Profile

Erb played in the 2000s, among other things in the band of trumpeter Manuel Mengis Group 6 and took part in the album Into The Barn (Hathut Records, 2005) with. With keyboardist Hans-Peter Pfammatter he formed in 2006 the band Project Purple, in which also Flo Stoffner (guitar) and Julian Sartorius (drums) play and with whom he also toured in Germany and the Netherlands. In 2007 he joined with his group erb_gut the Jazz Festival Schaffhausen with Peter Schärl and he founded the label Veto Records.

Erb worked 2010 in Chicago, among other things with Fred Lonberg-Holm, Jason Roebke and Frank Rosaly, with whom he album Sack grossed (veto). With Lonberg-Holm and Josh Berman, he acts in a trio Bererberg; a electroacoustic formation forms Erb with Chicago musicians Jim Baker (piano) and Michael Zerang (percussion).

Erb won the 2005 ZKB Jazz Prize with his band erb_gut. In 2006 he received the business award of the city of Lucerne, in 2009 a scholarship from the city and canton of Lucerne for a studio residency in Chicago.
