History John Butcher Group

The John Butcher Group was specially formed to play at the the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.

The piece, somethingtobesaid was composed in 2008 through a commission from Graham McKenzie, the festival's director - and the group is a mix of musicians drawn from both long-time colleagues and more recent musical encounters. The players come from England, Germany, Austria, the USA and Australia.

A preliminary version was performed at November Music in Den Bosch, Holland, and the full premier given in Huddersfield a week later.
