Биография Nicolas Folmer
Biography:
Nicolas Folmer is an uncommon trumpeter. He is one of those who stand out thanks to their numerous skills.
This remarkable instrumentalist has an extremely diverse expressive palette in jazz. And not only is he a talented composer and arranger, as have shown the many pieces of sheet music that he has signed for, amongst others, the Paris Jazz Big Band, but he is also a leader who gets involved into fascinating adventures that brought him to discuss with some famous figures such as Daniel Humair, David Liebman or Michel Portal.
Native from Grenoble where he discovered early a vocation as a trumpeter but also as a songwriter (he submitted his first sheet music to a local big band when he was just 11 years old !), Nicolas Folmer made himself known by taking part in the National Jazz Orchestra led by Didier Levallet from 1996 to 2000, after brilliant studies at the National Music Academy of Paris.
Familiar with Latin music that he practiced with some famous expatriates from South America (Orlando Poleao, Anga Diaz, Yuri Buenaventura…), he is also one of the founders of the Nojazz band, a flagship of electro-jazz in France with whom he registered an album produced by legendary Teo Macero in New York in 2001. But it is especially within the Paris Jazz Big Band, co-founded in 1997 with saxophonist Pierre Bertrand, that the talented Nicolas Folmer came to fame.
