History The League of Gentlemen

There are two artistic groups called the League of Gentlemen.

1. A band active during March-December 1980 that featured guitarist Robert Fripp of King Crimson fame.

2. A quartet of British comedy writer/performers, formed in 1995 by Jeremy Dyson, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith. They are most famous for their Radio, Stage and TV show titled "The League of Gentlemen".

Band Bio:

The League Of Gentlemen was a late-1970s band featuring guitarist Robert Fripp of King Crimson. Other members included bass guitarist Sara Lee (who later joined Gang Of Four), keyboardist Barry Andrews (formerly of XTC; later of Shriekback) and drummer Johnny Toobad. Toobad was replaced with a substitute drummer, Kevin Wilkinson, for the bulk of the band's only studio album, released by EG/Polydor in 1981.

In 1996, Fripp's independent label Discipline Global Mobile released an "official bootleg" live album of the League Of Gentlemen, Thrang Thrang Gozinbulx. The album features several tracks that were never recorded in the studio by the band. Many of the band's full concerts are available as digital downloads through DGMLive.com or as part of the "Exposures" box set.
