Origins and Early Releases
Signs of the Swarm is a slamming deathcore outfit hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Known for their blend of technicality and crushing breakdowns, the band first emerged in the extreme metal scene with the release of their debut album, Senseless Order, on April 8, 2016. Initially released via Chugcore, the record established the group as a rising force within the underground community.
Signing to Unique Leader and Lineup Changes
By the end of 2016, the band's growing reputation led to a deal with Unique Leader Records. Under this new label, they released their second studio album, The Disfigurement of Existence, on November 3, 2017. This project marked a significant step forward in their production and songwriting, garnering praise for its dark atmosphere and relentless intensity.
In mid-2018, the band faced a pivotal transition when original vocalist CJ McCreery departed to join Lorna Shore. To fill the vacancy, the group recruited Dave Simonich, formerly of the band Improvidence. Simonich's vocal range and aggressive delivery brought a new energy to the collective, which was showcased on their third full-length album, Vital Deprivation, released in 2019. This era signaled a more refined and punishing direction for the band as they continued to tour internationally and expand their global audience.
