History

Ibon Errazkin

Ibon Errazkin is a prominent figure in the Spanish independent music scene, recognized for his creativity, influence, and respected contributions. A skilled guitarist, songwriter, composer, and arranger, he is perhaps best known as the frontman for Le Mans, a highly regarded five-piece band from San Sebastian that achieved significant recognition in the 1990s. The band disbanded in 1998, at a time when their music was gaining international traction.

Early Projects and Le Mans

While Le Mans was Errazkin's primary focus throughout the 1990s, he also engaged in various side projects. From 1990 to 1996, he led Daily Planet, an instrumental group drawing inspiration from bands like Felt and Orange Juice. Daily Planet released two albums: "Calypso" in 1995 and "Romance" in 1996.

Other Collaborations and Solo Work

Errazkin is also one half of INSTRÜMENTAL, a duo exploring more experimental musical territories. Under the name Southamerican Getaway, he contributed a song titled "Expo Tenerife" to the compilation "Songs for the Jetset," curated by Mike Alway. Errazkin has since released two solo albums: his self-titled debut "Ibon Errazkin" in 2000, followed by "Escuela de Arte" in 2003.
