History

Waysted

Waysted is a British heavy metal band formed in 1982 by bassist Pete Way, a prominent figure from the band UFO. Throughout their history, Waysted has experienced numerous lineup shifts, with members departing, returning, and leaving again. The band also underwent periods of inactivity, during which Pete Way pursued other musical endeavors.

Early Years and Debut Album

The band's debut album, Vices, was recorded by Muir, Way, Raymond, and Kayfield, and featured Frank Noon, formerly of Def Leppard, on drums. The material on Vices echoed the style of songs Pete Way had written for UFO. Maintaining a stable lineup proved challenging from the outset.

Evolving Sound and Lineups

For their 1984 mini-album, Waysted, the lineup consisted of Muir and Way, joined by a new guitarist and Andy Parker, who had also previously played with UFO. By 1985, the band featured Muir and Way alongside Paul Chapman, another musician with UFO connections. Muir departed, and Danny Vaughn took over vocal duties for the 1986 album, Save Your Prayers. This release showcased a more polished, radio-friendly sound. Despite a favorable reception, the band disbanded in 1987.

Reformation and Later Years

Waysted reformed in 2003, with Muir returning to the fold. Subsequent reissues and reunion releases in the 2000s did not achieve significant commercial success. In 2008, Waysted embarked on a UK tour to support their album The Harsh Reality. The band has not released new material since that time.

Legacy

Pete Way passed away on August 14, 2020, due to injuries sustained in an accident.
