El Peyote Asesino was a pioneering Uruguayan band that emerged in the mid-1990s, known for its distinctive blend of hip-hop and hard rock. Active from 1994 to 1999, the group left a significant mark on the Uruguayan music scene with their innovative sound and energetic performances.

The core lineup of El Peyote Asesino featured L. Mental on vocals, Daniel Benia on bass, Juan Campodónico on guitars, P.P. Canedo on drums, and Carlos Casacuberta. This collaborative unit was instrumental in crafting the band's unique musical identity.
Discography and Key Releases
During their initial run, El Peyote Asesino released two full-length albums. Their self-titled debut, El Peyote Asesino, was released in 1995 by Orfeo. This was followed by Terraja in 1998, released under the Surco/Universal label. The latter album garnered considerable attention, notably for its hit single "Mal de la cabeza." The production of Terraja was overseen by the acclaimed Gustavo Santaolalla, further elevating the band's profile.
Legacy and Reunion
Although the band officially disbanded around the year 2000, their music continued to resonate with fans. El Peyote Asesino reunited for a notable performance at Pilsen Rock in 2009, offering a glimpse into their enduring appeal and the lasting impact of their genre-bending music.
