History

Wet Leg is an English alternative rock band formed on the Isle of Wight in 2019. The core of the group consists of Rhian Teasdale, who handles vocals and guitar, and Hester Chambers, also on guitar. The live band is rounded out by Josh Mobaraki on guitar and keyboards, Ellis Durand on bass, and Henry Holmes on drums.

Debut and Critical Acclaim

The band emerged onto the music scene in 2021 with their debut single, "Chaise Longue." Their self-titled debut album, released in 2022, achieved significant commercial success, reaching number one on the UK Albums Chart and topping Australia's ARIA Albums Chart. The album also garnered critical recognition, being shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2022.

Grammy and Brit Award Success

Wet Leg's impact was further solidified at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, where they secured two wins: Best Alternative Music Album for their debut and Best Alternative Music Performance for their breakout single "Chaise Longue." They were also nominated for Best New Artist. The band continued their awards streak at the 2023 Brit Awards, taking home the awards for Best New Artist and Best British Group.
