Ghost has officially announced the upcoming release of the 2 Big To Rig (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), which serves as the audio companion to the band's second feature-length film. The soundtrack will be available for streaming and download on August 27 through Loma Vista Recordings. To precede the full release, the Heavy Metal icons have shared a live rendition of "Umbra," featuring Papa V Perpetua and the nameless ghouls. This "carnally charged" performance of the penultimate track from their international No. 1 album "Skeletá" was captured in Mexico City before capacity crowds.

The feature film, "2 Big To Rig," is scheduled for a limited theatrical run in cinemas and IMAX worldwide starting Wednesday, August 26. Directed by Amir Chamdin, the concert film is described as a "love letter" to fans, intended to share the "Skeletour" experience with those in territories where staging the massive production was not logistically possible. The film showcases the band performing material from their six albums, including 2025's "Skeletá," alongside non-LP favorites such as "Mary On A Cross," "Kiss The Go-Goat," and "The Future Is A Foreign Land."

The "Skeletour" and Mexico City Rituals

The recordings for the soundtrack were captured over two sold-out shows at Mexico City's Palacio De Los Deportes, which drew nearly 40,000 fans. The title "2 Big To Rig" refers to the conclusion of the band's "Skeletour" world tour, which is set to end in February 2026. The production of the film also served as a gesture to fans who held tickets for the first of three planned dates in Mexico City, which was canceled due to illness, leaving only two nights for filming.

Tobias Forge on the Mexico City Cancellation

In a recent interview with Metal Hammer magazine, Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge detailed the severe case of food poisoning that led to the cancellation of the first Mexico City show. Forge explained that the band arrived five days early to acclimatize to the elevation, but he fell ill on the day of the performance.

"We flew into Mexico City five days before, just to get acclimatized to the elevation and jet lag. Everything was dandy, and then came the show day. I woke up and felt weird. It takes about an hour to go from the hotel to the venue, and throughout that whole trip, I just slept. I thought I was just tired. When I came to the venue, I couldn't stomach anything — everything was just flowing through me — and for every hour that went by, I was getting more and more drained. And then, all of a sudden, I started puking violently. Everything, just, 'Out, out, out!' Everyone's getting super-nervous: not only is the show dependent on this, but we also have a film depending on this! Fuck!"

Forge noted that his physical condition made it impossible to perform, leading to the decision to scrap the first night of the planned three-night run.

"Even if you get me up onstage, I will not be able to sing. Then you just have to do the rational thing: 'Fuck this, we need to pull the plug.' The rest of the evening, I was just lying on a stretcher with intravenous liquid going in. And then you have to handle the defeat and hope for people to understand."

Despite the setback, the remaining two shows proceeded as planned. Forge praised director Amir Chamdin for his calm handling of the situation as the filming schedule was adjusted.

"Luckily, Amir [Chamdin, '2 Big To Rig' director] is a very controlled, very nice person. He was like, 'Just relax, we'll figure it out', and the next day I felt better and ready to do it. So we had to deal with what we got, but obviously, it goes without saying: 'We better not fuck up now!' If you're going to go up and do that thing, you need to nail it."
