Joshua Hayes Carll, known professionally as Hayes Carll, is a singer-songwriter hailing from The Woodlands, Texas, a suburb of Houston. He is currently signed to Lost Highway Records.
Carll's musical journey began in Crystal Beach, Texas, a secluded coastal community accessible by ferry from Galveston. This environment, populated by a diverse mix of individuals, provided him with a rich source of characters and stories. For four years, he honed his performance skills playing six nights a week in local bars, catering to audiences who preferred established artists like David Allan Coe and Merle Haggard. This challenging upbringing instilled in him resilience and a deep well of material for his songwriting.
