Seeed: Berlin's Reggae-Dancehall Collective

Formed in Berlin in 1998, Seeed is a dynamic collective renowned for their infectious blend of dancehall, reggae, and hip hop. The group's signature "Seeed sound" is largely defined by the prominent use of their powerful horn section, creating a vibrant and energetic live performance experience.

Musical Evolution and Collaborations

Seeed's discography features lyrics in German, English, and Patois, reflecting their diverse influences. Their breakthrough hit, "Dickes B," was a heartfelt ode to their hometown of Berlin. International versions of songs like "Music Monks" and "Next!" helped the band gain recognition beyond German-speaking regions, leading to an appearance at the prestigious Glastonbury Festival in 2005.

Throughout their career, Seeed has collaborated with notable international artists, including Cee-Lo Green, Anthony B, Tanya Stephens, and Elephant Man, further broadening their musical reach.

Key Releases and Accolades

Seeed has released five studio albums:

The band's success has been recognized with multiple awards, including three ECHO awards and two Live Krone awards for 'Best Band.' They also won the Bundesvision Song Contest in 2006 with their track "Ding."

Band History and Lineup Changes

Initially conceived as a reggae sound system, Seeed evolved into a large live band. Their debut album, "New Dubby Conquerors," achieved significant commercial success. However, their early tours faced challenges, including a partial facial paralysis diagnosis for frontman Pierre Baigorry (Peter Fox).

Following the release of "Music Monks" and "NEXT!," the band took a hiatus during which members pursued solo projects, most notably Peter Fox's acclaimed album "Stadtaffe." They returned in 2012 with their self-titled album, which topped the German charts. After a period of touring internationally, the band experienced a profound loss with the passing of vocalist Demba Nabé in 2018. Despite this, Seeed continued, releasing "Bam Bam" in 2019, an album that included tributes to their late bandmate.

Since their last single release, "Hale Bopp" in 2020, members have again focused on solo endeavors, including Peter Fox's 2023 album "Love Songs" and Frank Dellé's various single releases. Other members have been active with the band "Tutti Bounce."
