Khalid

Khalid Donnel Robinson, known professionally as Khalid, is a prominent American singer and songwriter who has become a defining voice in contemporary R&B and pop. Born on February 11, 1998, in Fort Stewart, Georgia, Khalid spent much of his childhood moving between various locations due to his mother’s career in the military. His family eventually settled in El Paso, Texas, a city that would become central to his identity and musical narrative.

Khalid’s interest in music developed early, influenced by his mother’s own background as a singer. He began writing and recording his own material during his high school years in El Paso, initially sharing his work on SoundCloud. His soulful voice and relatable songwriting quickly built a grassroots following, catching the attention of industry professionals and leading to a deal with Right Hand Music Group and RCA Records.
