Kumbia Kings was a Grammy-winning musical group formed in 1999 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Founded by A.B. Quintanilla, the band blended the sounds of cumbia with hip-hop and R&B, performing in both Spanish and English. Quintanilla, the brother of the late Tejano music icon Selena, served as a primary producer alongside Cruz Martínez.
Over the years, the group experienced numerous member changes, leading to a significant shift from its original lineup. Despite internal disagreements and departures, including those of A.B. Quintanilla, Irvin "PeeWee" Salinas, and Chris Pérez in 2006, Quintanilla and Martínez were consistently recognized as the core creative forces.
