Chronolyth: Brisbane's Melodic Death/Groove Metal Force

Emerging from Brisbane, Queensland, in 2011, Chronolyth established themselves as a prominent force in the Australian melodic death/groove metal scene. Following a significant lineup overhaul and a rebranding from their previous entity, Stigmartyr, due to copyright concerns, the band solidified its core members: Hamish McSorley on vocals, Alex Nisiriou and Ben Constable on guitars, Jimmy Barrett on bass, and Michael Gee on drums. With founding members Nisiriou and McSorley remaining, the band's musical direction evolved towards a heavier sound.

Rising Through the Ranks

Chronolyth quickly gained recognition for their dynamic live performances, headlining notable events like the Ye Gods of Metal 2013 Festival. Their growing popularity was further evidenced when fans voted them the most requested band to support Cradle of Filth in 2013. This momentum attracted the attention of record labels, leading to a partnership with Hardline Media shortly after their emergence in the metal community. Audiences consistently praised Chronolyth for their energetic and tight stage presence, complemented by music that balanced heavy riffs with melodic sensibilities.

Debut Single and International Acclaim

The band's debut single, ‘Bitter Reflection’, released in November 2012, garnered significant attention, particularly in European countries like Sweden and Finland. The track also earned praise from respected artists such as Deals Death. ‘Bitter Reflection’ received extensive airplay both internationally, including on The Rock in New Zealand, and across Australian national and local stations like Triple M, Triple J, 4ZZZ, and AndrewHaugRadio.

Debut Album 'Sovereign'

Following successful tours across Australia, Chronolyth entered the studio in April 2013 to record their debut album, ‘Sovereign’. The recording process was overseen by producer/engineer Nik Carpenter at Core Studios, with mixing and mastering handled by the renowned Zeuss at Planet Z Studios. The album was slated for release in late 2013.
