Sarah Kinsley, born July 18, 2000, in Mountain View, California, is an American alt-pop singer-songwriter of Chinese-American heritage. Her career gained significant traction in 2021 when her song "The King" became a viral hit on TikTok. This success led to the release of her debut EP, also titled The King, which was recognized by NME as one of the top debut projects of 2021. Kinsley continued to build on this momentum with subsequent EPs, Cypress in 2022 and Ascension in 2023. In 2024, she unveiled her first full-length album, Escaper.

Relocating to Connecticut on the US East Coast shortly after birth, Kinsley's childhood was immersed in classical music training. She dedicated her early years to mastering the piano and violin, participating in youth orchestras. Reflecting on this period, Kinsley stated, "it was just everything. It was always there. I think that was part of the reason why I had to do music, in some form. At some point, it just became inseparable from life." During her teenage years, she honed her skills by posting covers of popular songs by artists like Justin Bieber and Julia Michaels online.
