Egg Hunt was a short-lived musical project formed in the spring of 1986 by Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson, founders of the influential independent label Dischord Records and former members of the seminal hardcore band Minor Threat. While visiting England, MacKaye and Nelson were invited by John Loader, founder of Southern Records, to record at his studio, which was located in the garage of a row house in the Wood Green neighborhood of London. During this session, they recorded four songs, including "Me and You," a track they had developed together for years, and "We All Fall Down," a song originally written by MacKaye for his band Embrace.

The recording experience in London proved enjoyable for MacKaye and Nelson, prompting them to release a single to commemorate the occasion. The project was named Egg Hunt, a nod to the fact that the recordings took place over the Easter weekend.
