Klinik (Marc Verhaeghen)

Klinik is the primary musical project of Belgian artist Marc Verhaeghen, continuing his exploration of dark electronic music following the departure of Dirk Ivens, the other half of the original The Klinik, around 1990-1991. Ivens went on to focus on his own project, Dive. Verhaeghen has continued Klinik as a solo endeavor and with various collaborators over the years, including Mark Burghgraeve and Thorsten Stroht in 1995, Stefan Mertes and Tom Claes from 1996 to 1998, and Nickanor in 2002.

The Klinik (Original Lineup and Evolution)

The original iteration of The Klinik was active between 1985 and 1990, with later activity noted in 2003 and from 2009 onwards. The band initially formed as a quartet, comprising:

Their first tour saw them briefly adopt the name "Absolute Controlled Clinical Maniacs," but this was quickly shortened to The Klinik. Sandy Nys departed early on to form Hybryds. Eric van Wonterghem followed in 1987, leaving Dirk Ivens and Marc Verhaeghen as the core duo for the period leading up to 1990-1991.
