History
The Machete
The Machete is a Finnish thrash and death metal band established in 2003. The group released their first demo in 2004, followed by their debut album, Regression, in 2005 through Spinefarm Records.
Band Members and Lineup
The Machete was initially formed by five musicians. Among them were Tuomo Saikkonen, known for his guitar work in the Finnish band Mokoma, and Santtu Hämäläinen, also a member of Mokoma. In The Machete, Saikkonen handled vocals, with Hämäläinen and Juha Javanainen on guitar. Antti Vajanto played bass, and Teemu Saikkonen was on drums.
Discography and Notable Releases
The band's second album, Untrue, was released on September 5, 2007. It received significant recognition, being named album of the week by Imperiumi, Finland's leading metal media outlet. The Machete also produced a music video for the song "Warmonger," featuring vocalist Tuomo Saikkonen portraying Adolf Hitler and George W. Bush.
Recent Developments
In early 2008, Tuomo Saikkonen departed from the band, and The Machete began searching for a new lead singer.
