Dean Fraser
Dean Ivanhoe Fraser, born in Kingston, Jamaica around 1955, is a prominent Jamaican saxophonist. Throughout his career, he has been a significant figure in the island's music scene, contributing to various influential bands and recordings.
Musical Career
Fraser's musical journey includes membership in the Sonny Bradshaw Band and a founding role in the 809 Band, alongside guitarist Lebert 'Gibby' Morrison and Desi Young. He also performed with Lloyd Parks' We The People band.
Solo Work and Collaborations
His debut solo album, Black Horn Man, was released in 1978 and produced by the renowned Joe Gibbs. Fraser's distinctive saxophone work can also be heard on the seminal album 'Unmetered Taxi'. In more recent years, he has been a part of Luciano's touring band. Currently, he tours with Tarrus Riley, and has also contributed to the production of Riley's recorded music.
