History

Middian

Middian was a doom metal and sludge band formed in Portland, Oregon, in 2005. The group consisted of guitarist Mike Scheidt (also of YOB), bassist and vocalist Will Lindsay, and drummer Scott Headrick.

Formation and Debut Album

Guitarist Mike Scheidt established Middian following the disbandment of his previous band, YOB, in 2006. The band's sole album, Age Eternal, was released in 2007 by Metal Blade Records. Middian supported the album with a tour across the United States.

Legal Issues and Disbandment

In October 2007, Middian received a cease and desist order from a Wisconsin-based group named "Midian," which demanded the band cease using the name and halt all sales of their recordings. The legal dispute significantly impacted the band both personally and interpersonally. By August 2008, Middian officially disbanded. At the time of their split, the band indicated that while the lawsuit was concluding, it had come at a considerable cost. Additionally, Mike Scheidt cited family and work commitments as reasons for needing to reduce his touring schedule. Following Middian's dissolution, Scheidt announced the reformation of YOB.

Post-Middian Activities

Since Middian's disbandment, Mike Scheidt has continued his work with YOB. Will Lindsay was briefly a member of Wolves in the Throne Room and has since been involved with the bands Indian and Nachtmystium.
