RIIZE
RIIZE (Hangul: 라이즈) is a six-member boy group formed by SM Entertainment. The group consists of SHOTARO, EUNSEOK, SUNGCHAN, WONBIN, SOHEE, and ANTON. RIIZE debuted on September 4, 2023, with their single album "Get A Guitar."
Group Name and Fandom
The group's name, RIIZE, is a portmanteau of "RISE," signifying growth, and "REALIZE," indicating a team that grows together and achieves dreams. Their fandom is known as BRIIZE (브리즈).
Debut and Early Releases
The group's debut was announced on August 7, 2023, with their first single album, "Get A Guitar," released on September 4. The pre-release single "Memories" was made available on August 21.
2023 Releases and Member Hiatus
In late October 2023, RIIZE released the digital single "Talk Saxy" on October 27, following an announcement on October 23. On November 9, they released an English version of their debut track, "Get A Guitar (English Ver.)." Later that month, on November 22, SM Entertainment announced that member SEUNGHAN would be taking an indefinite hiatus from group activities.
2024 Releases and Comebacks
SM Entertainment revealed in their 3Q23 earnings report that RIIZE planned to release two singles, including a Japanese track, in early 2024. This was confirmed on December 6, 2023, with a comeback scheduled for January 5, 2024. On January 1, the group announced their third digital single, "Love 119."
RIIZE released their first Japanese digital single, "Love 119 (Japanese ver.)," on January 24, 2024. The group announced plans for a mini-album and a single in the second half of the year on February 8. A comeback in April was confirmed on March 6.
Ahead of their April comeback, RIIZE released the full version of "SIREN" on April 3. The group also confirmed the release of "Impossible" on April 18 and their first mini-album, "RIIZING," scheduled for June 17, as announced on May 20.
SM Entertainment announced on May 8 that RIIZE would release a Japanese single in the third quarter of the year. The group announced their debut with the single "Lucky" on September 5, with a digital release on July 29 and a physical release on September 5. On September 2, RIIZE announced the repackage of their first mini-album, "RIIZING : EPILOGUE," set for release on September 4.
Member Changes and Future Projects
On October 10, 2024, it was announced that Seunghan would resume activities with RIIZE in November after a year-long hiatus. However, on October 13, SM Entertainment released a statement clarifying that Seunghan would be leaving the group.
RIIZE released a teaser for "Hug," a remake of TVXQ!'s debut song, on January 6, 2025, with the release scheduled for January 8. SM Entertainment revealed on February 10, 2025, that RIIZE would release their first full-length album in the second quarter of the year, confirmed for May. The group dropped a teaser on April 28, announcing their first full-length album, "ODYSSEY," for release on May 19.
