History
Palaye Royale is an American rock band originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. Formed in 2008, the group consists of brothers Remington Leith (lead vocals), Sebastian Danzig (guitar and keyboards), and Emerson Barrett (drums and piano). The trio is recognized for a signature "fashion-art rock" aesthetic that blends elements of glam rock, indie, and garage rock.
History and Formation
The band members, whose legal surname is Kropp, initially performed under the name Kropp Circle. In 2011, they rebranded as Palaye Royale, choosing the name as a tribute to the Palais Royale dance hall in Toronto where their grandparents first met. Each brother adopted a stage name using their first and middle names.
While the core of the band remains the three brothers, the lineup has expanded to include guitarist Andrew Martin, who joined in 2018, and bassist Logan Baudean, who joined in 2022. Previous members include bassists Jennie Vee and Daniel Curcio.
Musical Career and Discography
Palaye Royale released their debut single, "Morning Light," in 2012. They gained significant commercial and critical momentum with their two-part album series, Boom Boom Room (Side A) in 2016 and Boom Boom Room (Side B) in 2018. These releases established the band's reputation for high-energy performances and theatrical style.
In 2020, the group released The Bastards, followed by the expansive Fever Dream in October 2022. The band has remained active with frequent releases, including the EPs Sextape (2023) and Songs For Sadness (2024). Their fifth studio album, Death or Glory, was released in August 2024, supported by the single "Wednesday Afternoon."
Awards and Recognition
The band has earned several accolades within the rock community. In 2017, they were nominated for Best Underground Band at the Alternative Press Music Awards. They won Best Breakthrough Artist at the 2018 Rock Sound Awards and were later nominated for Breakthrough Group of the Year at the 2020 Juno Awards.
