Los Cafres is an Argentine reggae band that came together in late 1987. The group gained significant popularity in the mid-1990s following the release of their debut album, Frecuencia Cafre. The band chose the name "Cafres," derived from the Arabic adjective "kafir," which originally meant "unfaithful" before evolving to signify "extremely brutal." This latter meaning is the one the band embraces.
