Elvis Crespo, born July 30, 1971, in New York City, is a Grammy and Latin Grammy Award-winning Puerto Rican-American merengue singer. Named in honor of Elvis Presley, Crespo relocated to Caguas, Puerto Rico, with his mother during his youth, where he spent his formative years.

Crespo first achieved recognition in the mid-1990s as a member of the group Grupo Mania in Puerto Rico. He embarked on a solo career in 1998, releasing his debut album, Suavemente. The album, and its title track, became a significant hit across Latin America and the United States. The single "Suavemente" was particularly successful, earning Crespo the Billboard magazine award for Best Male Tropical/Salsa Album of the Year.
